1800's Original Leather Bound, Victorian Scrapbook
In the 1800s, during the Victorian era, scrapbooking was more than a hobby, it was a creative, sentimental, and deeply personal art form. Before photography became commonplace and commercial printing was widely accessible, scrapbooks served as both memory keepers and decorative storytelling tools. Scrapbooking was mostly practiced by middle and upper-class women with access to printed materials. Victorian scrapbooks are prized by collectors, historians, & artists. They offer firsthand glimpses into daily life, values, relationships, and design aesthetics. Each book is unique, part diary, part art project, part time capsule.
There are 74 pages inside a leather-bound album. The scrap book is completely filled with wonderful old plate prints depicting numerous animals, people, plants, history, babies, etc. This scrap book has shelf wear, interior spine tears, and some clever doodles on the interior front and back likely from a child at some point during its history. See photos. This book IS intact, readable, unrestored and amazing.
A great addition to your historic archive and library.
