The text portrays the Vatican as a hostile foreign political power. It argues that a citizen cannot be fully loyal to both the Pope and the United States Constitution, framing Catholicism as inherently anti-patriotic. It details the horrors of the Inquisition, criticizes the wealth of the church, and levels harsh moral accusations against popes, priests, and convents.
