AN EVENING WITH VAMPIRA: THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MAILA NURMI
This class presentation will go one sale soon and be announced in our newsletter
Step into the mysterious glow of The Altar Room for a rare and spellbinding evening celebrating one of Hollywood’s most enigmatic figures, Maila Elizabeth Niemi (December 11, 1922 – January 10, 2008), known to the world as Maila Nurmi, the creator of the unforgettable 1950s television icon, Vampira.
Born in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and drawn to the lights of Los Angeles in the 1940s, Nurmi carved out her own shadowy niche in Hollywood history. After several early film roles, she captivated America with her creation of Vampira, television’s very first horror host, a glamorous ghoul who would influence generations of gothic culture, from Elvira to modern-day dark aesthetics.
Join us for an intimate evening with Michelle Perry, the official Maila Nurmi family archivist, who has spent years preserving and curating the legacy of this taboo and fascinating woman. Perry will present a two-hour lecture featuring rare stories, insights, and artifacts from the private Vampira archives including personal memorabilia and never-before-seen glimpses into Nurmi’s hauntingly glamorous life.
Whether you’re a fan of vintage Hollywood, early television history, or the macabre allure of classic horror, this is an evening not to be missed.
Beverages will be provided inside the Altar Room during this beautiful evening!
